This day out has been created for you exclusively by Talk-Tourism.

Your day starts with your guide in the Royal Docks once the largest dock complex in the world and soon to be regenerated. We take a short walk along the dockside from the ExCel Exhibition Centre to the Emirates Cable Car Station where we stop to admire the Dockers Statue and take in the  great views of the Britannia Village, Canary Wharf, The O2 Arena, ExCel Centre and SS Robin - the world’s oldest complete steamship.

Flying at 295 feet you continue with a your flight over the River Thames on the Emirates Airline from the cable car station in the Victoria Dock to the O2 arena in Greenwich. During the flight you will see views of River Thames windings its way into the capital. High up you can see the Thames Barrier, Royal Docks, London City Airport, O2 Arena Olympic Stadium, Canary Wharf, The Shard and the Skyline of the City of London. Look for Anthony Gormley’s giant creation of “Quantum Cloud”

Once you have landed at the O2 Arena complex you take your short river trip using the Thames Clipper service around the Greenwich Peninsula. Take in the great views of Canary Wharf the West and East India Docks developments. This is the best way to enter Greenwich as laid out in front of you are the iconic buildings of the Old Royal Naval College, with the Painted Hall and Chapel, The Queens House, The National Maritime Museum and high on the Hill the Royal Observatory.

Before you go on the Cutty Sark your guide will provide an overview of its history and what to look at when onboard. The Cutty Sark which has been refitted at a cost of over £50m opening a new chapter in the extraordinary life of one of the world’s most famous ships. Travel through time and tide to explore the ship’s rich and tumultuous history; her various cargoes from tea and wool to buffalo horns, and the cultures and lives she has touched throughout her 140-year lifespan.

The Cutty Sark is the last surviving tea clipper and the fastest and greatest of her time; she is a living testimony to the bygone, glorious days of sail and, most importantly, a monument to those that lost their lives in the merchant service. The ship is fully accessible with lifts and easy access which allows everyone to venture both underneath and aboard this unique and beautiful three-masted sailing ship. By raising the ship three metres above her dry dock, it is now possible to view the elegant lines of her hull which enabled her to glide speedily through the water and made her so successful.

Next it’s a stop at the one of our specially selected restaurants in Greenwich.
